Description:
Town supervisor is an elective post who serves on a board that oversees the running of a township. The primary duties of a town supervisor is to help formulate the township's policies and supervise their enactment. He/she serves as Chief Executive Officer of the town and participates in the development and approval of the town budget as well as the hiring of municipal employees, responds to complaints of town residents and moderates town meeting.
Responsibilities:
- Is the presiding officer at meetings of the town board Votes on matters as well as all the other board members
- Votes on matters as well as all the other board members
- Town Executive and Administrator - after decisions are made it is usually the supervisor who often carries out the decisions
- Town Fiscal Officer - the treasurer of the town and generally represents the town in the conduct of its financial affairs.
- Has the authority to hire a bookkeeper to the supervisor.
